Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am raising funds for Hospice Isle of Man and Rebecca House, and hope you will be able to sponsor me in my efforts. I work and volunteer at Hospice which is how I've been inspired to do something a bit different to raise some money. I am aware of the great care that Hospice provides, and the difference it makes to both patients and families.
I am taking part in the gruelling ‘Fireball Rally’ called ‘Challenge
James Bond’ with my friend (and now co-driver!) Voirrey
Kennaugh from 6th - 10th September 2018. We will be covering approximately 2,500 miles in all, and will involve us driving 8 hours a day, through 8 countries over 4 Days plus the return drive Isle of Man to Dover:
England - France – Switzerland – Liechtenstein – Italy – Austria – Germany – Luxembourg – Belgium
Hospice Isle of Man is the only provider of specialist palliative care on the Island. More than 350 patients each year are being cared for by Hospice. This comes at a cost of over 4 million pounds each year.
Rebecca House is the Children's Wing of Hospice and provides respite, palliative care and end of life care for children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions from birth to 18 years.
HOW YOUR SUPPORT CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE:
- £359 could help provide a bed for a patient in Hospice for a day .
- £60 will provide 3 hours of Hospice Care to a patient whilst living at home.
- It costs £19,000 a year to care for a child in Rebecca House and provide support for their family.
- £25 could provide a child with a day trip out.
- 85p of every £1 donated will be spent directly on patient care
I am also doing this challenge in memory of my father Stanley Shelley. He loved and appreciated cars, especially classics, from an early age and I'd like to think he would have enjoyed taking part in this event himself, especially as he lived in France for many years.
