George's GBDURO page

GBDURO · 14 August 2021
I am racing the GBDURO in August, which is a bike race on
and off road from Lands End to John O Groats, via the Welsh coast. The race is
a 2000km route and is self-supported. It starts on 14th August 2021
and must be completed within 10 days.
My aim is to raise £1.00 for every kilometre I will be racing.
There are 4 timed stages, with an average of 500 km each
stage. There are no specified times in the day that you have to ride, therefore I could be cycling through the night to complete each stage.
The team I race for support a charity called Papyrus.
Papyrus’s aim is to prevent suicide in young people, as suicide is the biggest
killer of young people under 35. This is why I am fundraising for Papyrus as it is so important!
I am doing this race to push my own limits, but I would also like to raise as much money as I possibly can for Papyrus.
I feel every time I put on my Papyrus cycling kit, it is making everyone aware of the help that is available to combat youth suicide. Even if its’ only one person that sees my Papyrus jersey, it could make a difference.
The race is going to be extremely hard physically and mentally so I would be very grateful if you could donate some money to Papyrus.
PAPYRUS is the national Charity for the Prevention of Young Suicide. Suicide is the biggest killer of young people under the age of 35 in the UK, in 2018 over 1800 young people took their own lives. PAPYRUS provides confidential support and advice to young people struggling with thoughts of suicide, and anyone worried about a young person through their helpline, HOPELINEUK. Every £5 raised can help pay for a life-saving contact to HOPELINEUK. Your donations really are lifesaving, thank you.
