Gary Clarke's 60kg stone load for NHS · 11 May 2020

Musgrove Hospital in Taunton is the largest general hospital in Somerset and serves a population of 340,000. Charitable donations are used to support the work carried on at the hospital by purchasing services and equipment which would not otherwise be provided.

Story

Gary was the UK's first ever disabled strongman, and is the founder of the Britain's Disabled Strongman Competition. Part of his training is lifting a 60kg stone ball. He would normally do 25 reps in one week, but has challenged himself to complete 250 reps in 5 days.

The challenge will run from Monday, May 11, to Friday, May 15.

Gary said: "I sat there training yesterday and thought 'I am going to be here training anyway, so I may as well be productive too and give something back to the NHS'. I think it is important and it is the best way I know how to do that, so everyone is a winner!"

Love Musgrove is the Official Charity of Musgrove Park Hospital. Each year the Hospital treats over 450,000 patients through its emergency department, on its wards and through its outpatient services. Although the Hospital is funded by the NHS, it is vital that we raise additional funds to improve our services, purchase new equipment and continue to provide a positive environment for both patients and their families. Donations made in support of Love Musgrove have a real and tangible impact on the people of Somerset and beyond!
