In Memory Of Neil Heywood

Craig Heywood is raising money for UK Sepsis Trust
In memory of Neil Heywood
Donations cannot currently be made to this page
Sepsis accounts for 48,000 deaths annually in the UK, that’s more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer put together. Sepsis is what happens when our immune system overreacts to an infection. Symptoms initially present as flu like but can rapidly deteriorate into a life threatening condition.

Story

!! 2022 UPDATE !!

I (Craig Heywood) will be completing the 3 Peaks in 24 hours challenge to get this page to the goal! The challenge will be documented and taking place final weekend in June!

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I (Craig Heywood, son of my hero, Neil Heywood) have set up this JustGiving page to not only bring awareness to the charity but to also aid them via kind and generous donations of my Dad's friends, colleagues and family.

My Dad was taken from us by a severe infection as yet from an unknown source.

On Sunday the 12th of January he playing in the swimming pool with family by midday Tuesday the 14th of January he was in hospital and passed away 8.30 that evening. So swift so unexpected so final.

We had no indication he was seriously ill - the signs were there but having absolutely no knowledge of sepsis all the symptoms were ignored due to our ignorance - we thought it was just a bad bout of flu.

The speed is frightening. Public awareness and education is crucial.

With these donations we hope to increase awareness, improve care and reduce the death toll

The goal is set for 8888. The number 8 is my Dads favourite number.
