My journey started back in 2019 when I found a bucket list that I had written at the age of 45 that said by 50 I would learn to sail . The Universe was listening I found by chance through a random YouTube advert Clipper , applied and to my shock was accepted to join, I had never sailed before in my life so from zero to Ocean Racing, my family thought mid-life crisis!! My response was mid-life clarity as life’s too short and you have to live it to the max.

The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race is so much more!  11 Ocean Racing Yachts participate , partnering with UNICEF UK, the world’s leading organisation for children, this started back in 2015 and now Clipper have smashed raising £1million for such a worthy cause.

The Race Target for 2019-20 is £400,000 and with that my racing boat Halong Bay VietNam with skipper Josh Stickland has a team target of £33,000. And whilst we were delayed in completing the race due to Covid  that now recommences in March 2022, when we  leave the Philippines and set sail across the Pacific, I meet my crew in Seattle in April and we will set sail 30th April  Leg 7 Seattle to Panama Pacific side then Panama Atlantic side to Bermuda, Where Leg 8 starts Bermuda to New York,  then across the Atlantic to Derry-Londonderry , arriving back to the UK  30th July.

This epic journey is over 9500 nautical miles!
