Most people you meet will explain that they have been on a journey. Whether faced with emotional, physical or mental difficulties that may have arisen from their personal or professional areas of our lives - it is still a testament to anyone who comes out on the other side stronger than the person they were before. 

After a turbulent few years, I had been no different - from a devastating loss of a child, only two years later to find myself alone holding my newborn to more recently, trying to navigate the minefield of supporting someone who struggled with their mental health during COVID. 

At the beginning of the year, with an overwhelmed sense of lowered self confidence and direction that crept into every area of my life, I decided to do something about it. I have always loved the outdoors, the health benefits of the mind, body and soul are well known, but to me it became a sanctuary. I walked to a small hill nearby and once I reached the summit - I knew what I wanted to do, in this moment the Every UK county peak challenge was born.

There are 108 counties in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Who wouldn’t want to retell the stories to loved ones of how they summited each one? 

In memory of my daughter Bobbi and to raise awareness of the charity Tommys, who fund research to save babies lives, I will summit every peak over 2022/2023. Tommys believes that the loss of a baby shouldn’t just be “one of those things” and grieving parents should have the support they need during this unprecedented time. 

Additionally, I hope to complete this for all those people out there who are struggling with their mental health. COVID-19 has had a significant impact on individuals and their families, who may be suffering in silence. This is my hope, that somewhere along my journey, people will find the light and joy back into their lives by attempting one of the county peaks themselves, which  ultimately are accessible for most.
