Story
Thank you for stopping by my justgiving page.
My name is Ellie.
In September 2012 when I was 7, I became really poorly and was taken into hospital. I was eventually transferred to Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool where I was taken into theatre. I was diagnosed with Severe Crohn's Disease.
I was started on a special diet of Modulen which I had through a tube in my nose. I didn't get better on this. My consultant then put me on a steroid called Prednisolone. I didn't like this because I went very puffy in my face and I didn't like how I looked. I tried not to look in a mirror because it made me cry. But the steroids didn't work. I became steroid dependent.
I was started on an immune suppressant called Azathioprine and a tablet to protect my tummy called Omeprazole. I started an infusion treatment called Remicade Infliximab. At first I felt much better, but then over time I didn't respond to it and it was stopped. Instead I was started on Humira (Adalimumab) injections. They sting a bit but they have helped me a lot.
I still have times were the pain is really bad and I feel really poorly. But I want to help lots of people who have Crohn's Disease. That's why I am fundraising for Crohn's and Colitis UK and I need your help. Please consider donating to me and my cause, or share my story with your friends and family. I don't want to stop until we have a cure. There is no cure yet, but one day there will be, because the money we raise will help fund research into this horrible disease.
