Story
Devine Buskers is a dedicated group of musical-loving volunteers that performs across the community to raise awareness and vital funds for Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service.
Alexander Devine is a local charity that provides specialist care and vital support to babies, children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, and their families, across Berkshire and into surrounding counties.
More than just clinical care, its holistic and bespoke approach aims to provide the best possible support for each child and family. Its service areas include Respite Care, Specialist Play, Symptom Management, Family Support, End of Life Care and Bereavement Support. Care is provided in its children’s hospice in Maidenhead as well as out in the community in families’ homes, hospitals and schools.
The charity currently supports more than 150 children and their families, but is committed to growing its service and reaching out to every child and family that needs them. In Berkshire alone, research shows that there are more than 1,370 children with a life-limiting condition and this number is sadly set to increase by at last a further 11% by 2030.
With minimal government funding, Alexander Devine is almost entirely reliant on donations, fundraising and gifts in Wills to meet the £2.3million+ cost of running its vital children’s hospice service each year.
