Story
Alan Speak a true gentleman, amazing dad, grandad and great grandad sadly passed away on the 26th December 2020 aged 85.
He will be missed enormously by all his family and friends plus many more who had the pleasure to know Alan socially or through his working life and was an inspiration to us all.
A funeral service will be held at St Mary’s Church, Woodkirk on the 13th January 2021 with Covid-19 restrictions.
Alan’s wishes are not to shower him with flowers, he always said like our older relatives sometimes say, he would prefer donations to charity rather than flowers and therefore, the registered charity, Parkinson’s UK.
A registered charity in England and Wales (258197) and in Scotland (SC037554
Alan was diagnosed with Parkinson’s and lived with the condition for 12 years making the best quality of life he could. He always remained the head of his family who he loved with all his heart and unselfishly and despite his own suffering, was there for them all.
About Parkinson's
People with Parkinson's don't have enough of the chemical dopamine because some of the nerve cells that make it have died.
There are lots of different treatments, therapies and support available to help manage the condition.
Our researchers are working hard to develop new and better treatments - and one day a cure.
Making a donation to Parkinson’s UK, will help with the continued research and improvements that Alan experienced to allow him to live with the condition.
Alan would wish you all to “mind how you go but remember where you’ve been”
Until we meet again !!
Thank you
