Story
On Saturday 8th October I’m going to tackle the Bear Grylls
Survival Race in London to support the Jon Egging Trust. In 2011 I was part of the RAF Red Arrows engineering team when my colleagues Sean Cunningham and Jon Egging tragically lost their lives.
The Jon Egging Trust was set up by Dr Emma Egging and works to inspire young people through aviation, teamwork and leadership; helping them to overcome adversity, identify their strengths and work towards their ambitions.
Jon felt really strongly that young people should have the chance to achieve their potential and fulfil their dreams; it’s something I agree with and why I’m going to take on the Bear Grylls Survival Race.
I completed the Cambridge race in August but the high winds meant that some of the obstacles were closed. So even though I finished the course, it felt like there was unfinished business.
All my mates will tell you that I’m not a sportsman and these obstacle
course races are a real challenge for me. I’ve never done a 10K race before, so this is really going to hurt; but it’s for a great cause and I’d love to do the Jon Egging Trust proud.
Those of us who knew Eggman also know he would have very proud of what his trust has achieved and could keep on achieving with your support.
Please give generously and thank you.
Dave.
