Story
In January 2020, Mose Masoe suffered the kind of injury every rugby player dreads: in what seemed to be an innocuous tackle, he fell awkwardly and cracked vertebrae in his back.
The initial diagnosis was not good: doctors feared he might never walk again. His rugby career is definitely over.
Mose is being treated in the spinal injuries unit at Pinderfields Hospital, Wakefield, who are doing a brilliant job trying to get Mose back on his feet. Literally.
It's going to be a long, slow process for Mose, who is being incredibly brave, and for his family, who are being even braver.
I was lucky in my career with Leeds Rhinos, Hull KR and England to never suffer a serious injury: I can't imagine what Mose must be going through.
To help Mose and his family, I'm joining the UK Red Empire State 500 for what is going to be a tough challenge: I've never been a cyclist and 500 miles in six days is going to test my fitness and my determination to the limit.
But any discomfort I feel is nothing compared to what Mose is enduring. It would be great to raise £5,000 for Mose and his family: it would be even better to smash that target.
With your help, we can do it: I know everyone has a lot of demands on their hard-earned cash but this is a very special cause for a very special bloke.
Please give what you can and show your support for Mose.
