We are fighting to make a world where diabetes does no harm

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Though I am from Ireland, I am running for Diabetes UK, as I believe that research undertaken anywhere in the world will benefit the wider diabetes community.

My Grandad, Michael Langford and my uncle, Ciarán Langford both had Type 1 Diabetes. My sister, Jean Langford, has Type 1 Diabetes and is an advocate for improvements in treatment, diagnosis and and understanding of diabetes in Ireland and internationally.

Diabetes is a chronic disease that occurs either when the pancreas does not produce enough, or any insulin, or when the body cannot effectively use the insulin it produces, thereby preventing you from regulating blood sugar levels.

There are at least 10 types of Diabetes, and currently there are 144 million people in the world who have a form of Diabetes.

There are no days off for people who live with diabetes, as well as for their carers. However, with access to the right support and technology, life can be healthy, happy and fulfilling.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
