After many conversations with my family (over the phone as every year I promise it’s my last one) I have decided to go again and this year I will be trying to run further and longer than I have done in the past. My wife and children all think I’m mad so it would be a shame to disappoint them.
My run calendar for the year starts in February with the Blackpool half marathon on the 16th then the Wigan Half on the 22nd of March Followed by the Blackpool Marathon on the 26th of April and the Liverpool marathon on the 26th of May. All this is building up to my big run on the 10th of July when I will be running the cannon ball 36 hour run in Burnley. The race starts just before midnight on the 10th of July and finishes at 12 noon on the 12th of July my birthday so I will be 52 when I start and 53 when I finish.
After That I will be running from Wales to Warrington on my
dad’s birthday the 14th of August the Chester Marathon on the 4th
of October and the Oldham half marathon on the 25th of October.
Again I will be trying to raise over £600 for the MS society of Warrington for all the work they do to support family’s living with MS and most important to me is raising awareness about MS and how you can offer help and support.
This year I will be supporting the Warrington Mela event on the front of my running shirt as its going to be there 10th Anniversary and I’m very proud that WECA have given me the opportunity to do this and have supported me in my race events. The Mela event is everything I love about my town it brings people from all multicultural backgrounds together to celebrate how amazing and welcoming Warrington is and this is how I want my dad’s memory to be as a proud Warrington man who celebrated everything in life and always wanted to give back and thank people for their support. In my dad’s memory I will continue to make people aware of MS and raise as much as possible and go as long as my legs will carry me for many years to come
