Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In 1995 shortly after moving to Berkshire, my sister, Sarah Best, fell ill. As time went on and after numerous appointments with various hospitals, she deteriorated and fell into a coma before eventually dying in June 1996. Although the care offered to Sarah in the hospital was first rate, we, as a family found the experience understandably traumatic and it took us a huge amount of time to come to terms with both Sarah’s death and the prolonged time spent in hospital. Although Sarah was never able to be moved to a hospice, there was never the option of the Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service close by; not just in the care that is offered to young people but also to the families who are struggling to cope with the upheaval that illness and bereavement brings. Although Sarah never knew the Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice, it is a place and charity that resonates deeply with me and my family. Although it couldn’t offer us support specially, I know that it makes a tremendous difference to many families in Berkshire and the local area. It is an honour to raise money for such an amazing charity within the locality.
