10 years ago on the 13th January 2008 my mum suffered a life changing stroke, at the very young age of 43, that has affected her both physically and mentally. It was an awful time for all of us; my mum, myself and my sisters (plus our family and friends), but her strength got us all through it. The support and research funded by The Stroke Association means that my mum has not just survived, but has learned to live again, and this year I wanted to mark this milestone.

Life is not always easy for mum and she still struggles daily with the affects of her stroke, but I am beyond proud of how she has coped and continues to handle tough situations.

So now it is my turn to make her proud! Those of you who know me well will know that running is not one of the things that I am naturally gifted at - in fact I am pretty rubbish. But what my mum has proven is that anything is possible if you're determined enough, and I am so ready for the challenge. So on the 11th March I will be running 10k for The Stroke Association as part of their Resolution Run event to raise as much money and awareness as I can.
