Story
The North Belfast Schools' have exciting plans for April 2021 as part of their Personal Development and
Mutual Understanding programme (PDMU). We will be focusing on developing an increased
understanding and appreciation of the physical, social and cultural differences
within society and encouraging children to celebrate these differences.
On 19th April 2021we plan to launch our programme
Celebrating Difference Trek by having a Rainbow Diversity Day and we are asking
pupils to come into school in different coloured T-shirts to represent and
celebrate our schools inclusive ethos.
As part of the programme, over the next two weeks, we will
be encouraging pupils to demonstrate our TREK values of Truth,
Respect, Empathy and Kindness, both to one another and the wider
community.
We have decided to fundraise for the brilliant charity Cancer Fund for Children as they support young people and families impacted by cancer all across NI. As most people will know cancer does not discriminate. Cancer Fund for Children works hard to connect, strengthen and empower these young people, celebrating who they are and supporting them as they navigate the complexities of cancer.
Over the month of April the children will be encouraged to perform random acts of kindness, and we are asking parents, grandparents and friends to sponsor and celebrate this through giving a donation. We would encourage you to leave a comment celebrating the act of kindness that was performed.
