Thank you so incredibly much for donating to our Just Giving page and hopefully, buying our calendar. In doing so, you are supporting the amazing Compton Care facility in Wolverhampton. Compton Care has, and always will, hold a special place in our hearts after they cared for my wonderful wife, Carol, in the final stages of her battle with cancer. It was a truly awful time; however, Compton Care went above and beyond to look after us all as a family. Most importantly, we could rest assured that Carol was comfortable and in safe hands.
Her room had a beautiful view of the garden and Carol enjoyed watching the birds and other wildlife peacefully come and go. Carol had aromatherapy in her bedroom each evening and enjoyed listening to relaxation music whenever she wished. I remember the first time I walked into the garden outside Carol’s window; I noticed a couple of small weeds in the flower bed and bent over to pick them. It was then, that I noticed a wedding ring, a broach and a little doll under the flowers. That was when it really hit me, that many others had been where I was right then, experiencing the same pain.
Carol was able to have our dogs visit her, which meant the absolute world to her and us. I set myself a mission to raise £3000 for Compton Care, by completing a triathlon, to support other families going through such tragic times and as a thank you to Compton for the wonderful work they do. This calendar is the next event with a new target of £5000. A bit of humour is always welcome in times of sadness, so here are me and the boys doing some “Men at Work and Play”. For all those of you brave enough to have viewed all 12 months, we hope we’ve put a smile on your faces.
Thank you once more for your generosity,
