I will be taking part in my first White Collar MMA Event for Rumble on the Rock, on Saturday 9th November 2019. My chosen charity I want to support and raise money for is the Jersey Heart Support Group (JHSG).

They were formed in 2011, and work towards improving cardiac care for people in Jersey. JHSG primary aims, are to provide support to those affected by heart conditions, help raise money for better cardiac facilities and raise awareness of cardiac care in the community. Common heart conditions include coronary heart disease, heart failure, heart attacks, valve disease, arrhythmia, congenital heart conditions and high blood pressure. JHSG battle against cardiac conditions where hospital rehabilitation leaves off, and they are continually striving to offer the best support and most up to date information about heart conditions, for their members by working closely with health officials. They offer exercise classes out in the community, hold fund raising events and are constantly working on new projects with, and for their members.

JHSG has equipped 34 schools in the Island with defibrillators, 8 more carried by police response vehicles and 2 more to community first responders. Seconds and minutes are vital in the event of a heart attack, and that's why this project is something JHSG has worked very hard for, to make defibrillators available Island-wide.

This charity is very close to my heart for a number of reasons, my family has been affected by heart conditions and I think it's something that needs to be made aware of. In the UK alone, there are 7.4 million people living with heart and circulatory disease, and in 2017 there were over 42,300 fatalities caused by heart disease. The statistics have shot up at an alarming rate, and hopefully the statistics will change for the better in time, with the continued support and information, provided by health care professionals and hard working charities, such as JHSG.
