We set ourselves the challenge of running the 2019 London Marathon together however, due to injury, Carly has deferred her place to 2020 while Dan continues to run VLM 2019!  

We set out to do this together but sadly it wasn't meant to be, so we take our turns on the start line 12 months apart and cheer each other from afar! 

This means that it's going to be an exciting time ahead for us as we continue to support The Dockland Settlements by fundraising throughout 2019/2020 doing other events, mostly running I expect!  

What can I tell you about them, they are an organisation that provide sporting, social, recreational and educational activities by creating a shared space in the local community for everyone to use.  Their aim is to improve the quality of life for local people within the community by providing a variety of sporting activities for vulnerable people who may feel disengaged with the outside world.  The site in Rotherhithe, which successfully opened in 2015,  has given small organisations and independent people of sport, the opportunity to create and build their own businesses.  Millwall Community Trust, whom I am a Trustee for, run their walking sports club from here, a programme which supports older people with long term health conditions, dementia, mental health difficulties etc.  Ballers Academy is also run from the site, they are a football academy that are rapidly growing and receiving awards for the great work that they do!  This is another example of a fantastic partnership within the local community.  

Parents, children and the community have benefited from this shared space and we need to create more of these in London.  They are a small organisation which need our help to continue doing the amazing work that they do.
