Story
The Awareness Foundation is a small charity that is very close to my heart. The Little Heroes programme is a series of 3-day events for displaced and disadvantaged children, aged 6 to 12, in Syria. Its aim is to build self-esteem, resilience and emotional health in the many displaced and disadvantaged children of Syria's long and brutal war. A few hundred pounds will buy much-needed arts and crafts supplies; more will help change a child's life through counselling, the arts, play and spiritual nourishment.
Each event helps around 200 children and, over the years, the Awareness Foundation has given hope and encouragement to tens of thousands of young children. As many as have been helped, though, there are thousands more in need. But - as I will no doubt be learning walking the ancient trail of the pilgrim's way in Spain - one step at a time and every little bit helps.
