Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On June 12th, I will be running from my front door in Sheffield, to Turning Point Brew Co in Knaresborough. Running has been a great help to me over the last 12 months, giving me some focus in a year of chaos. I am trying to push myself to do things that are not comfortable, and do not come naturally to me, and this is probably the toughest one yet. To date I have only run in two "competetive" runs; a half marathon, and a marathon. Both were physically and mentally exhausting, but very rewarding too. I have no doubt at all that a 50 mile run is going to be a huge challenge! I will be posting updates on my preparation for this on my Instagram page (@cam__mcqueen), and on the day too, if you want to follow my progress. I will of course be enjoying the Taproom at the other end, and expect to finish at around 4:30-5:30, if you would like to join me for a beer then head to turningpointbrewco.com/taproom to book a table.

As you may know, our lovely cat who had been our friend for only one year, recently passed away. We adopted him from the Sheffield Cats Shelter. After speaking with them when we adopted our little lad, we found out just how much of a financial constraint they are under, and how many cats are being rescued every day. So I would like to use this challenge to raise some money for them, because they are truly an awesome shelter run by great people. You may be able to glean some irony from this as I am historically... not a cat lover. My mind has been changed! Here's some more info on the shelter:

"With an estimated nine million stray cats in the UK, the number of strays roaming the UK has reached a critical level.
Because of this it’s our mission to make sure that every cat that needs a home, finds a home.
We shelter our rescues in rooms, not cages, to let them adjust to living in a home-like environment where they are not only safe, but have the space and facilities to express normal cat behaviour. We provide all of our cats with lots of comfy beds, igloo beds, cat trees and scratch posts, toys, catnip, quality food and exceptional care. We aim to keep them as happy and fulfilled as possible until they find their forever home.
We also neuter, vaccinate, and microchip every cat that comes to us. This means that our cats are safe from unwanted pregnancies, and cat-lovers can adopt from us in confidence.
With your help we can make sure that cats throughout Sheffield and surrounding areas are cared for and protected, and never have to be scared or hungry ever again.
We need your help to continue to operate in order to save and rehome home stray and unwanted cats. We need continued support from donors to be able to continue the work that we do covering vital vet bills and essential food costs."

Thank you very much to anyone who choses to donate.
