Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
My Mum had been feeling out of sorts and then unwell for a few months. She was back and forth to the GP who assured her it was nothing serious. On a late September evening in 2018, she deteriorated suddenly and unexpectedly. She was taken in an ambulance to A&E where she learned she had advanced stage 4 cancer that had spread and nothing could be done. She died less than 48 hours later.
My mum asked to be transferred to palliative care. The team at the hospice looked after mum with compassion and clarity. They tried to help us all make sense of the shock, disbelief and rage we were all feeling. It felt and still does feel, unreal.
I will always be very grateful to the team at St Ann's for their warmth and kindness when caring for my mum and their patience and understanding with our bewildered family and friends. My Uncle Fred also received exceptional care here when he was an inpatient.
Now...a fabulous few have decided to get together and walk in celebration of my Mum, and Uncle Fred's lives.
We will be thee swarm of bees Buzzin for [Marjorie] Miles. I'm hoping to persuade our swarm to embrace a bit of fancy dress too...🤞
Your donation(s) will make an invaluable contribution towards inpatient and outpatient provision at the hospice. The team help to alleviate symptoms and listen to each individual. They work with each patient to help them live their best life on their own terms whilst preparing them for death. The palliative team also support loved ones, ultimately to say goodbye, and offer bereavement services.
Whatever amount you can spare, Queen Bee...aka me 🤣👑 and the rest of our Buzzin worker Bees 🐝💞🐝💞 would like to say a HUGE thank you.
