The 84 challenge:
84 males complete suicide each week in the UK. This alarming figure can be reduced by removing the stigma that surrounds male mental health.
The aim of the 84 challenge is to raise awareness for male mental health and to create a conversation about it. Every penny raised is put straight back into providing mental health support for those who desperately need it whilst also running continuous volunteer training and awareness talks for communities, workforce’s and clubs.
As the founder of Tough Enough To Care, I have tried to think of a personal challenge that can be completed around working a full time job, running TETC and spending time with my family. To some, this may not seem like a challenge, but to those that know me, this is going to be one of the toughest challenges I could possibly face.
Proving just how far i am willing to push myself to provide support for others.
Stu’s personal challenge For 84 days:
* Minimum 8.4km exercise (daily average over 7days)
* 84 (press-ups/sit-ups/burpees) per day
* No Sugar
* No Beer
* No Take-aways
* No Smoking
On completion of the challenge, I will have completed a minimum of 705km and over 7,000 press-ups / sit-ups and burpees combined. But will aim for 840km and 8,400 reps.
Whilst being a personally brutal challenge, I also hope to practise what we preach about a healthier lifestyle leading to a healthier mindset.
