Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Imagine a disease which progressively robs you of your human traits such as eating, talking, walking, even holding your own head up, before it finally takes your life.  This is the cruel beast called Motor Neurone Disease.  Relatively little is known about it when compared to cancer but it is much more common than you think and equally devastating.  This is what my family is currently living with and Lucy lost her mum to a few years ago.

Prognois once diagnosed is generally very bleak with many people losing their battle within the first year, however, much is being done to understand the disease more so that one day a cure will be found.  This is why we are fundraising for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA).  As well as providing practical and emotional support to families such as ours, they are the main UK contributor of funds for research.  This research has already made some breakthrough discoveries although more work is needed to get closer to the goal of a world free from MND.

Our team has chosen this challenge to cycle from London to Brighton as it's something which almost all of us will struggle with just like every day activities are a struggle for MND sufferers.  Our aim is to raise awareness and most importantly funds for research for the MNDA.  So, like David Niven did just before MND took him away, give us the thumbs up and please support us in our quest.
