Louis was born during July 2019 weighing 1lb 11oz at 25 weeks and 2 days. From the start, Louis experienced a lot of medical problems which caused heartache for us all, but more importantly pain and suffering for Louis. He had bleeds to both sides of his brain (which later caused fluid to build up), severe lung disease, multiple blood transfusions along with all other problems throughout his short life. On 5th September 2019 we had that devastating time where we needed to say 'Good Night' to Louis in person, for the last time. 

Following Louis' death and as his Mother, I set up a page 'BECAUSE OF LOUIS'. My objective is to support tiny lives at New Cross Hospital. "Why there?" I clearly understand I'm not in a position to help babies everywhere (as much as I would love too), but I have to start somewhere. So, I start at New Cross where Louis was born and lived for nearly two months. Louis' home.

My priority is to help reduce some of that suffering Louis endured, which is also being felt by other tiny babies who have been born too early, or extremely poorly. Furthermore, following personal experience within the NICU ward for nearly 2 months, I hope to remove some of those anxieties I felt, for other parents who find themselves in similar circumstances and surroundings.

For the past couple of years we have completed a couple of big challenges, but this year we are going BIGGER! I, along with Julie Tolley, the Founder of Xhersize (which supports the mobility of ladies of all ages), we aim to complete the equivalent miles of Route 66 (before it was shortened). Therefore, Julie and I will complete 2400 miles each, on a gym bike. Furthermore, many of those who use Xhersize facilities also want to help support us and what we are fundraising for. So, as a group effort, they too shall be completing 2400 miles. I would like to mention that some of these extraordinary ladies are in their 70s and 80s, which will be a fantastic achievement in itself! Not only will this show a lot of support and encouragement for each other, but I am sure this will bring many of smiles and giggles along the way, and allow myself the opportunity to meet these wonderful ladies. But more importantly, the importance of why we are all coming together, which is to support tiny babies who are extremely sick and/or premature, as well as continuing Louis' Legacy. 

All monies raised will go towards medical equipment which 'Because Of Louis' is aiming for. A target of £1000 is set, so whether we achieve less or more, it shall all go towards the above, and support babies at New Cross NICU.  For anyone who donates to this challenge, and all we are striving to achieve, with your donation we will be that little bit closer to helping these babies. For me personally, that little bit closer to removing some of Louis' suffering for others, and help them feel a little more comfortable. Alongside this, I shall be keeping my promise to my beautiful boy, and his Legacy alive.
