We Provide specialist support to offenders to help them break down barriers they face

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have been part of this charity for the past 19 years and I am proud to be Team Leader in our latest fundraising event, the Color Run (or in our team's case - walk!  )

There are over 10 million people in the UK with a criminal record. Employing ex-offenders makes sense now more than ever, something that the team at Apex Trust can see only too well. The charity began in St Helens in 1996 and spread its wings into the rest of Merseyside just three years later. Today the team numbers 7 staff,  and 10 volunteers, many of whom also know the services from the other side.

As Chief Executive for a specialist charity which supports a marginalised client group who reside within the Liverpool City Region,  securing funds to enable the advice and guidance to continue is key to the future of the services we deliver.  The money we raise will help to break down the barriers women face when trying to progress. This money will help us fund childcare (so women can attend training courses) it will also fund equipment e.g. hairdressing starter kits, CSCS cards, I.D. to open bank accounts, clothing to attend interviews.

This is also a personal challenge for myself and my daughter.  I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in 2013 which at the time seemed to turn mine and my families lives upside down.  I feel in having this disease has made me stronger as an individual, not letting it beat me.  It may take me a heck of a lot longer to complete this challenge on the 1st July, but I will give it a good go.....

My daughter recently went through major spinal surgery for Scoliosis, which she was diagnosed with in June 2016.  She has been an inspiration to us all and is recovering well, but she has had to make some short term lifestyle changes, which for a teenager can be difficult. She wanted to take on this challenge and help raise funds for the charity.

Your support will spur us on in completing the course and your donation is much appreciated.
