Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, once again.

My latest fund raiser Pop Up Yoga event in Bushy Park, raised £175. Thank you yogis for joining me and thanks to distant donators, who were there in spirit. Your generosity and contributions are so helpful for raising awareness.

I was so pleased to have raised £1,000 at the Hampton Court Half on 26 March 2023, the support I receive for these challenges is so greatly appreciated, not only by me but also the amazing Blood Cancer UK team, who work so hard to raise awareness.

I hope you'll all support me on my quest to help Blood Cancer UK continue their research they have made huge progress since I started my campaigning and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support.

Read on to catch up with my fund raising news since 2015

On Saturday 3 December 2022 I ran a 10K at Osterley Park and raised £630 for Blood Cancer UK, in memory of Tom.

Remembering those who are no longer with us and sending love and hope to all blood cancer sufferers and survivors.

Currently we are living in the midst of very challenging times, making history as we speak. Amongst the worry, fears and concerns that  pandemics and world wars have generated, we must not forgot all the charities that are necessary to support so many other causes, with life threatening illnesses and diseases at the forefront. Research is imperative in order to conquer and beat all.

Perhaps it's true to say that I am motivated by my grief. This is not a bad thing, since I know that if I can contribute a small amount to help conquer the evils of blood cancer I can feel heartened that Tom's life has had significent meaning.

Tom was a wonderful son and human being, who had great passion for life, sport, his family and friends. Some would say " He was the perfect gentleman".

After running the London marathon in 2015 I have enjoyed a number of further challenges to help raise awareness. Three half marathons at Hampton court during 2015, 16 & 17.

In October 2018 I joined the Bloodwise team to run the Royal Parks Half marathon. It was a tough run in wet conditions but I managed to complete it in 2:22 hrs.

In October 2019 I conquered a 3 minute unsupported handstand pose at David Lloyd gym in Hampton after training for five months.

In April 2020 I completed 26 minutes of Yoga Free Flow and a 2.6 mile walk round my garden. This was a challenge to save the UK charities during lockdown.

March 2021 we enjoyed the Walk of Light challenge while the sun went down, strolling along the tow path from Hampton Court bridge to Kingston bridge and back.

A huge thank you to my special friends, loved ones and colleagues for giving so generously to Blood Cancer UK and for supporting me through my challenges over the years. I am deeply grateful to you all.

Tom was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) in September 2013 he died on 23 January 2014. He was being treated at UCL hospital under Professor Stephen Mackinnon, who leads the bone marrow program which has world class transplant outcomes for patients with leukemia and lymphoma. Unfortunately Tom was unlucky in his struggle to fight this aggressive disease, he was courageous and dignified right to the end and we will never know why AML struck our dear loving son. He leaves behind Katie his wife and son Archie who was only 2 years old when Tom died. Not only his close family but also his many friends and colleagues who all share wonderful memories of Tom's great personality, friendship and kindness.
