We are two senior nurses at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, we started working for the trust as newly qualified nurses on the same day 20 years ago. The way our career paths have taken us has meant for many years we didn’t have any contact, then in August 2009 we found ourselves back together in the most cruel way. Within a week both our beautiful baby girls were stillborn at the very same hospital where we both still worked. Our worlds fell apart. At what was the most painful time any parent could ever imagine we found comfort in each other. Life very slowly regained meaning and our other amazing children and loving families held us up when we needed it most.
Life will never be the same.......but we are still here, we are both still nurses at ELHT, we are both still hurting, that will never go, but we are proof that life can go on, you can live and be happy again.
So this year we want to acknowledge what would have been our daughters, Darcey and Katie’s 10th birthdays. In their memory we decided to do some fundraising and the charity that we felt was appropriate was the same hospital that has not only nurtured us as staff but has also reduced stillbirths by 20% in one year 2017/18. We want to do anything we can to support our maternity services here in East Lancashire, it is important to us that any money raised goes directly into improving the care of parents who are going through the unthinkable.

We are so excited to be hosting an event on Saturday July 13th that will hopefully raise lots of money for ELHT&me, our local hospital charity whilst also raising awareness of stillbirths.
Get your tickets before they sell out and prepare for a fantastic night of fun and laughs at Clitheroe Rugby Club for our fundraising evening, we will have music, dancing, hot food, prosecco bar, fun games and a big prize raffle.
