Story
Sue Ryder supports people through the most difficult times of their lives. Whether that’s a terminal illness, the loss of a loved one or a neurological condition – they’re there when it matters. Their doctors, nurses and carers give people the compassion and expert care they need to help them live the best life they possibly can.
We are fortunate here in the North East corner of Bedfordshire to have the St John's Hospice, providing excellent care and support for those who need it. Unfortunately there are too many people who need the care and service offered by the Sue Ryder hospices and this local hospice in Moggerhanger has been vital to people in the surrounding area and within the town of Potton where I live.
I've seen the difference it makes to friends and neighbours who have had needed to use St John's Hospice for their loved ones and listened to the praise they have for the dedicated staff and health professionals who helped make a difference and support them through some of the toughest times of their lives. It is essential that these hospices are around to support all of us, if we are ever in need. Therefore, over the next year I will aim to help ensure I can personally support Sue Ryder as much as possible by fund raising on their behalf, whilst doing something that I really love.
I love to run and the London Marathon is an iconic run, a fact proven by the huge number who enter the ballot for a place every year. There have been five and a half months of pain as I've tried to get to peak fitness and run this 26.2 mile course, hopefully finishing in The Mall on Sunday 3rd October 2021 and in a reasonable time. My legs hurt, I'm struggling to be at my best at the moment but none of that matters. What really matters is that I raise as much money as possible for a great facility with your help. Please give generously and support this great cause.
