Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I'd really appreciate any donation you can give, to help keep Maggie's doors open for the thousands of people who visit them every year.
On my Birthday this year I am taking on the Ironman challenge in Switzerland, in memory of my two close friends Paula Roberts & Kevin Haggar, who we sadly lost to cancer. I am raising funds for Maggie's Wirral, at Clatterbridge because they have provided support to my friends when they needed it most and they continue to support their families.
Maggie's is very close to my heart, they provide free support to anyone affected by cancer. They are a drop in cancer support centre, with professionals on hand to give immediate advice and support to anyone living with and beyond cancer. The centre is safe haven away from the clinical hospital environment, many people visit to sit and relax in a warm and uplifting building in between appointments, some visit Maggie's whilst loved ones are undergoing cancer treatment, and Maggie's is also there to give bereavement support. Maggie's host a whole range of services including support groups, courses including living with less stress, sleep management, mindfulness along with courses relating to specific cancers, relaxation classes, yoga, tai chi, drum therapy, make-up and skin courses and so much more. Their evidence based programme of support is shown to improve physical and emotional well-being and is delivered by their team of qualified professionals including, cancer support specialist nurses and a psychologist. They are also have a benefit adviser who can help take away the finical burden that a cancer diagnosis can often bring.
Maggie's empowers people to live well with and beyond cancer. Their aim is to ensure that people do not loose the joy of living through the fear of dying.
Thanks Again.
