Story

This year I'll be running the 10k Great Scottish Run, in Glasgow on 1st October, for the third time, to raise funds for The Lily Foundation, and to raise awareness of mitochondrial disease and the work of the Foundation.

As some of you will already know, this is a charity I care a lot about. It does great work relating to a disease that many are unaware of, but which has devastating and even fatal effects. Lily would have gone to school with my younger daughter, but she died at 8 months old.

You can find out more about the Foundation, and read Lily's story, here: https://www.thelilyfoundation.org.uk/

If you are able to help the Foundation by donating any amount at all, both they and I will be extremely grateful. You will be helping those with mitochondrial disease, and helping fund research towards a cure.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity

I've begun training, which has been hampered at times by a knee injury, but whatever happens I will be on the starting line on 1st October. Hopefully I'll be fit and well, and looking to beat my time of 1 hour 7 minutes from last year. I'll be posting updates as I train over the next weeks leading up to the run.

Thank you in advance for your support, and a huge thanks to those who have donated in the past. You're helping a great cause, and it also helps give me a spur during the run!

There is no cure for this disease which is for many, debilitating and life limiting. Please stand with us and fight Mitochondrial Disease and fight for hope.
