Story
Sophie Airey, our beautiful daughter, took her own life on December 19th 2018.
In February 2019 I ran the EnduranceLife Northumberland Trail Half Marathon using Sophie’s entry. We raised funds for PAPYRUS, the national charity dedicated to prevention of young suicide, and helped introduce the charity to thousands of people; many of these people subsequently reached out to PAPYRUS for help.
Laura Spenceley, Soph’s friend, ran the half marathon last year – she’s also signed-up to run again.
We are determined to bring something positive out of our terrible loss. Please help us make a difference, the money generated will help PAPYRUS ensure young people who feel suicidal can access the support they need.
Thank you
Suicide is the biggest killer of young people under 35 in the UK. PAPYRUS is the national charity for the prevention of young suicide and believes that any young suicides are preventable. They operate HOPELINEUK, a confidential call, text and email helpline for young people with thoughts of suicide or those concerned about a young person who may have thoughts of suicide. Every £5 raised can help pay for a potentially life-saving contact to HOPELINEUK from a young person wanting to stay safe from their thoughts of suicide.
