Story
I have always wanted to do a sky dive (since the first time I saw someone do it on I'm a Celebrity a few years ago) but I never thought the chance would come my way. I have also loved raising money for charity over the years and the total is now close to £35,000. The most recent ones being for The Myton Hospice, Coventry and The Peritoneal Tumour Unit at Good Hope Hospital who helped care for my brother Geoff Freeman who sadly passed away from Bowel Cancer in 2020. So, when I saw a charity poster in The Treatment Centre at Good Hope Hospital where I have worked since 2002 asking "what would you do new for 2022?" I thought why not combine the two, and see if anyone else is mad enough to chuck themselves out of a plane with me. Luckily for me Joe Hill (my son-in-law) and Steven Marshall (my nephew) said they fancied taking on this daring challenge too.
My friends and family will know that as a family we have had such a devastating start to this year and I'm hoping that concentrating on raising as much money as possible for this fabulous cause will help bring some positivity into my/our lives.
The Peritoneal Tumour Unit at Good Hope was set up by Mr Haney Youssef in 2012 and is one of only three in this country treating patients with peritoneal malignancy. Mr Youssef and his team specialise in cytoreductive surgery which involves cleaning as much of the cancer out as possible followed by a hot chemotherapy bath that washes organs during surgery to make sure all visible signs of the cancer have been treated/removed.
Your kind donations will support the continued running of this unit and therefore help other cancer patients in the future.
