Olivia’s donating her hair · 6 October 2020

The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or to other conditions. The charity is also one of the largest funders of childhood cancer research in the UK.

Story

A year ago Olivia asked me if she could donate her hair so that a child with cancer could have a wig. When I told her that her hair was not long enough she cried. So I promised that as soon as it was long enough she could donate. Just before lock down we measured her hair, but when we contacted the Princess Trust they needed a donation of 12inches or more and she could only manage 10 at this point. Again she was upset but said she would wait a little longer to donate.

Olivia’s friend had childhood cancer and managed to ring the bell. She has beautiful long hair now but things could have been different for her. Olivia loves her long hair but knows that this will put a smile on a girl/boys face if they receive a wig. And for her she can grow her hair again.  I am so proud of her as this was all her idea.
