Story
On the 22nd of April 2020 I headed out for a training ride, one where I wouldn't return home for nearly a week, and via an impromptu visit to a trauma ward. I was hit by a bus (big, bright red London one) and sustained life changing injuries.
Roughly one year on, I am looking to ride 1km for every day I have survived since that accident, hence 365 for 365. I now face challenges on a daily basis as a result of these injuries and so this ride is a challenge to prove that I am stronger than I have ever been, both mentally and physically (even if my left arm works like a T-Rex's).
Furthermore, ever since the accident, I have struggled to shake the sense that I drew resources from those who needed it most. Therefore, I am trying to set the record straight, and fund research into a disease that has touched me and my family personally several times. People who needed urgent care for many chronic diseases had that put on hold in 2020, so hopefully by doing this bike ride I can potentially reduce the risk for those in future.
There are far too many people to thank for getting me through the last year, needless to say there have been a fair few hiccups. You know who you are, and you know there is nothing I can say that could express my gratitude.
Any donation would be hugely appreciated. I also cannot thank Handsling bikes enough for their support in this venture, especially at such short notice.
Thanks so much for reading
Alex
PS. Unfortunately the logistics don't quite work for the 22nd, so the 11th is the closest I can get, let's hope its not tempting fate.
