Story
At the end of March 2022, our lives were turned upside down by my wonderful Mum, Deb, being diagnosed with a grade 4 glioblastoma (GBM) - an aggressive form of brain tumour.
Whilst Mum is stable for now, although not quite herself, the diagnosis is both inoperable and incurable. Whilst it might be too late for my amazing mum, maybe research will mean that it's not too late for others.
My partner Gemma, who has Geordie roots, and I are running in The Great North Run on September 11th to raise money for Brain Tumour Research in honour of my mum, and to test ourselves and bring us closer.
Any donations are gratefully welcomed.
A cure can't wait.
Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer, yet historically just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease.
Brain Tumour Research is determined to change this!
They are the only national charity in the UK focused on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours through campaigning to increase the national investment in brain tumour research to £35 million per year, while fundraising to create a network of seven sustainable Brain Tumour Research Centres of Excellence across the UK.
