Story

I have been really inspired by stories of so many people doing amazing things to raise funds for the Save Acorns Black Country Hospice Appeal.

The goal of the appeal is to raise enough donations to keep our hospice in Walsall open for the next few years, until the full amount of new NHS funding pledged for children's hospices is received. You can read more details here - https://www.acorns.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Acorns-Walsall-Proposal-July-18th-Update.pdf

I was 50 in May this year, and not exactly a winged Pegasus. I have long loved my running, but have not gone further than 10k since 2013.

I have been inspired to do this in particular by the example of James Wright, who ran 31 marathons in 31 days over July and August to raise funds for the hospice, with which he has a close family connection.

So I thought I had better sign up to the annual Half Marathon in Birmingham, known as the Great Birmingham Run. There will be nothing great about my time, but I will be thrilled if you would support me into raising a fine old sum.

All funds raised will directly support the care and support Acorns provide to life-limited and life-threatened children and families from our Black Country Hospice in Walsall.

Thank you
