Story

Hi everyone!

Firstly, I would like to thank you for taking the time to look at my fundraising page.

Secondly, this charity, Help for Heroes, is a charity very close to my heart. Since 2007, they have helped and supported over 25,000 soldiers and their families.

I was one of those 25,000.

The Charity

Help for Heroes’ main aim is to provide support to soldiers, veterans and their families who have suffered physical or psychological wounds or both.

In addition to this, they also provide support for individuals within the Armed Forces who struggle with their mental health and well-being.

They are a fantastic organisation and they need YOUR support!

The Challenge

Shortly, I’m taking on a 15 day challenge in hope I can raise some money for this wonderful organisation.

Starting on the 20th of August, I will be continuing life as normal; getting up, going to work as a gardener, attending my weekly running club, seeing friends, family, going for walks, doing everything I usually do with one major difference - the entire two weeks I will have a weighted vest on.

Ill Mental health is invisible, it can’t always be seen.

The weighted vest represents the invisible weight carried on each persons shoulders who are suffering, yet somehow they find the strength, the courage, to carry on with their normal routines - every day they get up, they go to work, the carry on as normal.. even when they feel like they have the weight of the world on their shoulders!

On the 15th day, after roughly 196+ hours of wearing the vest, I will be taking on the South Coast Challenge. I will be running from Eastbourne, across the coastline, over the Severn Sisters, to Cuckemere Haven, over the South Downs and into Brighton promenade.

A total distance of 57km and 1250m of climb.

This part of the challenge represents the road to recovery. It’s sometimes a long one, with lots of uphill & downhill battles, sometimes you’ll cry, sometimes you’ll laugh, sometimes you’ll want to give up. These are all emotions I anticipate going through on this part of the challenge.

Any donation from you is appreciated, help me reach my target of £600 so we the charity can continue doing the fantastic work that they do!

Please please share this event so I can reach a wider audience.

Thank you so much for reading!

I know I’m a talker
