Vicky B's Trek 20

Vicky B's Trek 20 · 15 July 2019
This trek is by no means easy, but neither is suffering, or watching those suffer, with Dementia and Alzheimers. When my Nan was diagnosed with dementia and alzheimers, I never knew how much it would affect me and my family. My favourite memories of my Nan are her picking me up from primary school, keeping her red sweetie tin stocked for me and my brothers, and playing in her living room for hours on end. Unfortunately, it's unlikely she remembers those times anymore. So that's why on August 24th I'm treking 20km, to fund a future with less forgotten memories and less lives ruined by this disease.
My Nan is and has always been a little ray of sunshine, and she is currently living happily at a care home in Leigh-On-Sea. The money we raise will make high quality of care more common, fund research into potential cures and medication, and will help support all those affected by the disease.
It's one small step for me, but one giant step for the Alzheimer's society.
Thank you for your support.
Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
