We fund long-term, sustainable research to find a cure for brain tumours

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 4th June, me and 14 other wonderful people plus one fabulous dog will be participating in the 40th Royal Sutton Fun Run. We won't be running, but there is a good reason for this...

...we will be carrying an enormous top hat for 8.5 miles.

I am making the hat myself so I'm not quite sure how well it's going to turn out yet! It's supposed to look like the one I'm wearing in the picture above. I've had to arrange a place to make and store it that has an outside door big enough for the hat to fit through, as well as a van large enough to transport it from Stourbridge to Sutton Coldfield on the day of the event. So although walking 8.5 miles with a enormous top hat does seem fairly easy on the surface, I can assure you that a lot of work has gone on behind the scenes in preparation!

We will all be dressed in pink and will probably look fairly ridiculous. The dog will have her own special outfit of course!

Although this is going to be fun, we're obviously doing it for a reason: to raise money and awareness for the charity Brain Tumour Research who I have now been supporting since I was diagnosed with brain cancer in November 2015.

Brain tumours kill more CHILDREN and ADULTS UNDER THE AGE OF 40 than any other cancer. There is currently NO CURE and a lot of the treatments on offer aren't very effective. Despite this, research into discovering new treatments is massively underfunded in comparison to many other cancers. This research desperately needs more funding because the government have failed to deliver on the promises they have made year after year.

I realise that times are very difficult for people at the moment so whether you are visiting this page to support me or because you are planning to sponsor someone else that I have managed to rope in to do this with me, then please know that ANYTHING you give is massively appreciated.

P.S. I HAVE not and WILL not be doing ANY training for this event so I won't be posting any boring updates about my walk in the rain or photographs of me running/walking.

I will, however, post a pic of the stupid massive hat, when I've managed to construct it!
