Story
The Deans family and friends have decided to raise money in memory of Mick Deans- a beloved husband, son, father, brother, uncle and friend; and to also raise money for the Brain Tumour Research fund- the cancer which causes most deaths among children and young adults.
We are going to be holding different and continuous fund raising events through out the year, all money raised from these events will go onto this page so we can always see our accumulative total! Our starting target is £2,740 - this is the cost of ONE DAY's worth of research at the centres of research in London, Plymouth and Portsmouth. Ultimately, we want to raise enough money to provide even more days of research so we can help speed up the process to finding the cure of such a vicious and cruel cancer.
"Mick Deans sadly passed away on the 2nd of August 2016. After being diagnosed in November 2014 with a Stage 4 terminal Brain Tumour, he went through on going chemo-therapy, trial drugs, radio-therapy and all types of medication to try and beat the stage 4 GBN (Glioblastoma) tumour in his brain. As a result of the cancer, Mick also suffered from epilepsy and had regular, heartbreaking fits, also whilst having to nurse a broken leg (which happened when walking the dog!). On the 29th of July 2016, at 6am, Mick went into resuscitation at New Cross Hospital Wolverhampton where his family were heartbreakingly told to expect the worst. Mick's tumour had effectively split in half, causing a severe bleed to the brain. After being blue lighted to the Queen Elizabeth hospital and put into critical care, a 4 day process began of waiting and praying that Mick may pull through the operation he underwent to relieve the bleed to the brain.
Unfortunately, on the 2nd of August, Mick passed away at the Queen Elizabeth hospital Birmingham with his family and loved ones by his side. In his name, the family have decided they want to fund raise as much money as possible so that no family ever has to go through the pain and suffering caused by this illness."
Thank you so much for any donations and all the support we have been so lovingly given - The Deans squad. xxxxx
