Story
Jason was shocked last year In August 2021 to find out that his lovely mum; Marion, whom he was very close to, was feeling unwell and tired. After a suspected stroke and some test she was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma Multioforme (GBM) Brain Tumour.
Unfortunately, she passed away just 6 weeks later. This was devastating for Jason, his family and everyone who knew Marion.
Jason and I met through the Bearding community and In 2019, We dressed as Vikings and took to the Canal to paddle to the Oxford Beard Festival. It took us 2 days and we raised money for Prostate cancer. This year, we're going to turn up to the Oxford Beard Festival in style (it's a "Strong Beard" theme) and we're going to attempt to paddle there in just 1 day. (We may be older and wiser now so have a cunning plan to save the arms a little)
We will be in some ridiculous/risque/handsome fancy dress so keep your eyes peeled for two bearded chaps in a canoe on the waterways heading to Oxford !!
It seemed fitting that we support the research and a charity that does so much for people affected by Brain Tumour and GBM in particular for this adventure.
You can follow our journey on socials as we'll take pics and do some videos along the way. If you want to meet us there then the Beard Festival is at the Isis Riverhouse Pub near Iffley and its a great venue. The Beard competition starts at 1pm on Saturday 10th September.
