On the 23rd of April, Alec and I will be donning the sports gear and running the Southampton Half Marathon to raise money for Gift of Sight. This local charity funds cutting edge research into the prevention and treatment of blinding conditions including Age-related macular degeneration (AMD), Glaucoma and Nystagmus at the University of Southampton.

We have chosen to support this charity and it is through their generosity that I am able to continue my research into AMD after my PhD studies, but also because this is a condition that hits close to home. Alec's Granddad was diagnosed with AMD back in 2014 and we have seen the devastating impact it has had on his life.

We are hoping to raise £400 for this charity so that we can help fund further research into creating more effective therapies, and ultimately treatments for people suffering from such conditions. We would be extremely grateful for any contributions you are able to make, no matter how small. Please so remember to give gift ais as it does make a huge difference.
