Story
0n the 13th September 2017 I will be starting a 27 mile sponsored walk along 3 cycle paths that were once railway lines, - Lon Las Menai from Felinheli to Caernarfon, Lon Las Eifion from Caernarfon to Bryncir and then after a short car ride I will then do the Morfa Mawddach Trail from Dolgellau to Barmouth.
I am fortunate that none of my family suffer from Alzheimer's but I have seen the sorrow that it has brought to friends and others. One famous sufferer was Terry Pratchett the author of the Discworld Series and other books. Terry developed the condition and from the time of his being diagnosed he campaigned to bring the condition to the notice of the General Public and to help ease the sufferings of the people with the condition and their families, supporting research into the condition. Sir Terry is no longer with us, but I am thankful to him and through his books I have made many wonderful friends and when I was looking for a Charity to support this year I decided that it would be the Alzheimer's Society.
So I will do a Memory Walk on 13th September 2017 to remember Sir Terry and all the other sufferers and their families. Please sponsor me in this endeavour - This is not an organised event in that I just turn up on the day and do the walk and get given a nice bit of bling at the end of the day and have the advantage of organised fuelling stops etc. Most walks are at the weekend and I work at weekends. But the Alzheimer's Society allow you to organise your own event which can be just you or a group of people. In this case it's just me plodding from the start to the finish with my long suffering husband supporting me by getting me to the start, bridging the gap between Bryncir and Dolgellau and picking the pieces up at the end of the day! Oh and providing chocolate and other nourishment at various points along the day. :-)
So please spare a few pounds, if doesn't have to be a lot, if all my friends donated £2.00 each then that would be a nice sum to be able to present to the Alzheimer's Society. It's easy just follow the links.
