Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 23 July, I'll be setting off from Land's End on my bike with my cycling mates Dan, Nick, Simon and Martin at the wheel of our team bus. Our destination is John O'Groats, 1,000 miles away at the opposite end of mainland Britain. Why? Well, it seemed a good idea for a lads holiday during a boozy Zoom call during lock down and over the last year arrangements and committments have been made so there is no backing out now.

Though the main purpose of our trip is 'holiday', we have chosen to ride in support of Young Minds, a charity which supports the hard pressed NHS children and adolescent mental health services.

In the UK, an estimated five children in every classroom have a mental health problem and 80% of young people with mental health needs said the pandemic made their mental health worse. But it doesn't have to be this way - things can get better.

Young Minds provide young people with tools to look after their mental health. They empower adults to be the best support they can be to the young people in their lives. And they give young people the space and confidence to get their voices heard and change the world we live in.

Riding in support of such a worthwhile cause will give me purpose and motivation when things get tough and I start to regret to agreeing to such a challenging ride. Our ride is entirely self funded.
