Story
I have been involved in charity fundraising generally and for St.:Luke's Hospice in particular for many years personally and through my employers E-ACT Parkwood Academy in Sheffield. This will be the 4th (and probably last) banger challenge and collectively they have so far raised around £8000. This year we are taking a £550, 20 year old Subaru Impreza from Sheffield to Monte Carlo, via Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and France and (hopefully if the car is still running) back - previous events have involved over heating, failed starter motors, punctures and a variety of leaks!. This is a round trip of over 3000 km. Many have already supported in getting the car as roadworthy as it can be - Sheffield Subaru Services, Impreza Breakers Norwich, Hawleys Tyres Sheffield and we are very grateful for support already pledged from Singhs Premier Stores, Fletchers Bakery, Tesco, E-ACT, E-ACT Parkwood Academy and Heatons Coaches.
We have raised money for St.Luke's in many different ways - half marathons, cake sales, coffee mornings, cycle challenges, sponsored walks, charity meals, summer and winter fairs. This event represents an attempt to do something a little different with a higher profile, attract more publicity and hopefully thereby raise even more money! All the costs of the event will be paid for by myself - the car, entry fee, the ferry, the fuel, the food and accommodation, the decoration and general running of the car - so all donations will be go directly, in total to St.Luke's.
Please help us to support the amazing work done year on year by St.Luke's. They are only partially funded by the NHS and every year they have to raise in excess of £5m just to continue their invaluable work
