Story
My colleagues (Karl Munslow Ong, Chief Operating Officer), (Marcus Thorman, Chief Financial Officer) and me (Prof Nick van As, Medical Director) are cycling 330 miles from London to Paris. We are taking on this mammoth challenge to raise money to help build The Oak Cancer Centre, a groundbreaking new facility, currently under construction at The Royal Marsden in Sutton. The Oak Cancer Centre will speed up the translation of world-leading research into breakthroughs in treatment and care, transforming the lives of cancer patients at The Royal Marsden and beyond.
Our plans have been cancelled for two years due to the pandemic but our ambition is to do this in July, and we are hopeful that it will be third time lucky for us. However, we will of course be guided by advice and if the national recommendation at the time is not to travel, then we will do the cycle at a later date when it is safe to do so.
It will be a difficult challenge and one that we will all need to train for, some more than others perhaps! Needless to say, we are totally dedicated to The Oak Cancer Centre and, can’t wait to start fundraising to transform the lives of cancer patients at our hospital and beyond.
We would welcome your support as we take on this challenge for The Royal Marsden and would ask that you donate to our JustGiving page:
