240ft Abseil and an Extreme Zip Wire Challenge!, 21 January 2017

Story

Last year, whilst 8 months pregnant, I was unexpectedly and violently attacked in the street and stabbed 24 times. My life and that of my baby's literally hung by a thread.

Many people came to my aid but if it weren't for the Midland Air Ambulance airlifting me to a major trauma centre in literally minutes, the efforts of those amazing people to save me would have been in vain. Every second counted as I had vital organs damaged in the attack - heart, lung, liver and uterus (carrying my baby)... as well as the main artery completely severed open in my wrist.

My recovery is still ongoing and I've had amazing support along the way. But I will never be able to thank the Midland Air Ambulance enough for saving me and my baby that day. I have 2 older children who still have their mum and we all have a beautiful little addition to the family because of what they did that day.

Last year I did a Wolf Run to raise money for the charity and my supporters did me absolutely proud with the money raised. This year I'm doubling my challenges and doing a 240ft abseil off the highest building in Birmingham in May (interesting with only one hand functioning properly!), and then throwing myself down the longest zip wire in Europe in September. I believe I will be face down over a gorge, hanging from a wire (with sore wounds still in my chest!), travelling up to speeds of 100mph for the latter!! Arghhh!

I am setting my target again at £2400, my baby's birth weight. It would be amazing to smash that target as I did last year. UPDATE: Target met so bar now set higher.. 2 lives were saved that day.. so I've doubled the target to £4800 (I have left adding my weight in as that would be unfair! 😀).

Midland Air Ambulance receive absolutely no government funding and rely completely on charitable donations. Each rescue mission costs about £2500 and the charity needs in excess of £7 million per year to operate.

None of us know when ourselves, family or friends will need their life saving support. Every penny counts as does every second they save when rescuing people. Thank you for reading this and thank you in advance for supporting me.
