Want to join me in supporting a good cause? I’m taking on the 10,000 Steps (running, walking or otherwise moving) a Day in February Challenge for Brain Tumour Research to help them get closer to finding a cure for brain tumours, the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40, yet only receives 1% of cancer research funding. Your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate £5 or £50, every penny makes a real difference - thank you so much for your support.
I’ve lived with brain tumours since my first was found in 1995 6cm at promptly removed at Atkinson Morley’s. The second was found in 2013 around 4cm and higher grade 2 atypical removed at The Walton Centre in Liverpool. This one brought along a few friends which are now being regularly monitored. I’ve never let my tumours or the side effects such as epilepsy, not being able to drive, or headaches and fatigue stop me from achieving personal and professional goals. Admittedly, they’ve certainly put ‘bumps’ in my path. I’d like to use my experience to bring attention to a worthy cause and contribute to important fundraising for research. £2740 would fund 1 day of research. My tumours are growing - thankfully fairly slowly, with one being a bit more of concern. As my next scan is in Feb it’s a good time to contribute to helping make a difference. Walking and running also help with fatigue and a sense of calm. It would be lovely to think that in future a cure could be found so that others don’t have to deal with the uncertainties living with side-effects and possible treatment brings.
