Generally I don't shout about this...but I'm going to make an exception in the name of fundraising for this extremely worthy cause...
On Friday 13th November 2009, I suffered a stroke. I lost the use of the right side of my body and was unable to speak or swallow. It was terrifying and turned my family's lives upside down.
I was extremely lucky and I made a good recovery with very few lasting ill-effects. The cause (a hole in the heart) was soon identified and rectified and life goes on for me, relatively unscathed.
Others are not so lucky and the very wonderful Stroke Association offer support and assistance to enable them to regain some quality of life. But stroke isn't very glamorous and this charity often gets overlooked in favour of more 'fashionable' ones, so because of my experience, I'd like to help them just a little so that they can do more for survivors of this often devastating affliction. Stroke doesn't just hit the elderly - I was just 35 years old and increasingly children and young people are affected.
Running the London Marathon will be a MASSIVE challenge for me and I'd be so very grateful if you would dig deep and donate to this wonderful charity which really can make a difference to people's lives. Thank you xxx
